Reduce Reuse recycle

The hair industry creates a lot of waste. We take serious steps to reduce our footprint by following the ol’ saying Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

We reduce our footprint by choosing products that come in larger, refillable packaging. We also offer a refill incentive on most of our shampoos and conditioners to encourage our guests to reuse their bottles.

Next we choose reusable containers, refillable cleaning and hair products where ever available.

We recycle all our color boxes, color tubes, packaging, foils and any waste that is recyclable.

We COMPOST! We divert a lot of our waste by composting teabags, biodegradable coloring gloves, paper waste, used waxing strips and sticks, and yes, HAIR!

COMPANIES THAT CARE

We choose to work with products made by people who work towards reducing their waste and carbon output. First and foremost ALL of the products we use in salon are cruelty-free and never tested on animals.

Kevin Murphy has dedicated their entire line to being packaged in 100% Ocean Waste Plastics that are hand collected from the pacific ocean and turned into lovely bright packaging for you. The majority of their products also are manufactured at a facility that recycles all of their water, is powered by solar power, and has a carbon footprint of zero.

CULT + KING is an amazing sustainable product line that reduces their waste by packaging a majority of their products in lovely glass or bamboo containers that are made to be reused. We then offer low waste refill packs that are 100% recyclable. Their products are full of organic botanical ingredients and free from toxins. All CULT+KING products are formaldehyde-free. Paraben-free. Gluten-free. Propylene glycol-free. Synthetic fragrance-free. Phythalate-free. TEA-, DEA and MEA-free. Mineral oil-free. Synthetic dye-free. Coal tar-free. Synthetic detergent-free.

We also use a majority of our tools are made from recycled plastics or sustainable materials like bamboo. We even have bamboo color bowls.

We use Framar compostable balayage film and paper foils. All aluminum foils are recycled.

GREEN STEPS BEYOND…

We really put a lot of thought into making sure we reduce our waste. Here are a few EXTRA steps we take to make sure we are making smart choices.

-We use ECOHEADS shampoo bowl faucets. They have a special head that reduces the amount of water needed while creating more pressure. There is also a built in carbon filter so we are using clean water to wash your hair.

-We COMPOST with MR FOX COMPOSTING.

-We wash our floors with white vinegar and use a biodegradable disinfectant for cleaning our equipment.

-A good portion of our equipment comes second hand. Of course this is also a thrifty choice for us, we enjoy bringing new life to these items. Even most of the custom built-ins installed in our salon were created using recycled materials.
